What is Optoversity Challenge?

World Optometry Week kicks off on Sunday 21st of March with The Out of the Box Optics Optoversity Challenge 2021!

This is the only virtual inter-University competition between Optometry students in the UK and ROI across all year groups in support of Vision Care for Homeless People (VCHP). Last years’ event was a MASSIVE fund-raising success with Team Hertfordshire taking the title of Optoversity Challenge 2020 winners and the teams raising over £5500 collectively! Previous participants include Anglia Ruskin, Aston, Bradford, City, Dublin and Plymouth University. The competition is a light-hearted, fun and effective way to prepare students for life beyond University, whilst giving students the opportunity to socialise with each other – which was otherwise impossible in 2020.

Prizes will be given to the highest performers and the highest fund-raisers. In previous years, students have been awarded with prizes such as an iPad, volk lens, textbooks, vouchers and various optometric equipment.

Each University team has representation from 1st, 2nd and Final year (3rd/4th) students is represented by an unlimited number of students, who will be put to the test on various aspects of Optometry and be asked to demonstrate a range of skills. Successfully passing the tasks will generate points for the team…and points mean prizes!

Prior to the event, you’ll be sent details of the event link and instructions
