FAQs:
Is this just going to be lecture like uni?
No. This is focused on streamlining your patient interaction, measurement techniques and salient recommendations.

Is it a different topic each week?
Yes, a new topic with a different expert.

Do I need to have my camera on?
We prefer if you have your camera on. This is an INTERACTIVE workshop; and the job of an Optometrist involves interacting with the patients that we care for. If you’re naturally a shy person, then as the weeks go on, you’ll grow in confidence.

If I’ve missed a previous Weekly Workshop, can I still attend further sessions?
Absolutely! Each workshop will run as an individual, free-standing session. Sessions are not pre-recorded

Does it matter what stage of Pre-Reg I am up to?
No. These workshops are aimed at ALL stages of qualification. Even if you’re qualified and want to brush up on key skills, then you’re welcome to attend. The skills and competencies covered will encompass Stage 1, Stage 2 and the OSCEs.

Hasan graduated from Aston University in 2016 with a first-class honours degree and has since settled in an independent opticians taking on a directorship role. In 2018 he started working back at the university as a clinical supervisor teaching all years of the optometry programme. He gained a teaching qualification in 2020 which has allowed him to become an associate fellow in higher education. Once qualified, Hasan gained professional certificates in medical retina and glaucoma which has allowed him to be at the forefront of his local shared care schemes in his area. To take this further, he he recently completed his independent prescribing qualification which will allow him to do more in for the community projects planned for the future.

Hasan is an assessor for the College of Optometrists alongside being a pre-reg supervisor which gives him a thorough knowledge for the scheme for registration. This ties in nicely with his role as a faculty member for Johnson & Johnson where he helps deliver virtual classes and training and support for those also on the scheme. He sits on the board of his local optical committee arranging CPD events and encouraging local participation from optometrists in the area.
